Day 5 Down day in Viana do Castelo
It was glorious to not have to set an alarm for this morning! We are taking a down day today to make sure I didn’t tweak anything too bad yesterday. I am feeling much better and feel like I can continue walking without issue. That is, of course, if I can manage to keep myself upright.
We had a lovely breakfast at the hotel and took a stroll along the ocean front.
I figured I would write about a couple of things that I wrote about last year and obviously changed my mind. At the end of last year’s Camino I believe I said walking from town to town is really boring and not worth it. I would like to amend that statement and say it is totally worth it if you get to walk along the ocean!
I also said I would never leave Pepper again. Yup, that one is hard. I miss that muppet so much BUT she is living her best life being completely spoiled by her THREE aunties. She stays with Auntie Alisa who graciously lets her take over her bed and gets regular visits from Aunt Sandy and Aunt Sue. Aunt Sandy gives her massages and Aunt Sue takes her for walks. Which explains why last year when we got back, Pepper was like “oh, hey you’re back…whatevs!”
Alisa, Sandy, Sue - thanks for being part of Pepper’s pack and ours!
Some of you may also be wondering about Olga. Last year, my dear friend Olga did the Camino Frances with us. Well, this year’s Camino was kind of a spontaneous decision and there wasn’t enough time for Olga to make plans to join us. It feels weird doing Camino without her and we definitely miss her. I am so happy to report that she will be able to join us for the last week!!! I can’t wait!
Ok, I think that about covers it. We are gonna do some exploring and also see if I can find a better day pack. The one I am using isn’t sitting right.
