La Laguna to Triacastela - October 6

We made it to Galicia! Thanks to Rich’s creative planning we spent last night in the last town of Castilla Y Leon. So this morning we had short but steep hike up to O Cebreiro which marks our entry into Galicia which is home to our final destination - Santiago de Compostela. In less than one week will be completing our Camino.

The descent into Triacastela is quite steep so Rich and I took a bus. We are checked into our hostel for the day and it is quite lovely.

The walk this morning was really beautiful. Well at least the glimpses I caught between gasps while climbing the hills.

I’m exhausted today because I didn’t get much sleep last night. The dogs of La Laguna like to howl at each other all night. Just when I would fall asleep I would hear “Awhoooooo” and then more howling and barking. Usually, I find anything a dog does to be ridiculously cute but I was feeling rather slighted by the dogs of La Laguna because they had absolutely no interest in me like this guy:

He would not get close to me but then pee’d a stinky pee right next to me. Hmmmpf. I can handle mean people but I do not handle doggie rejection well!

The cows of La Laguna, on the other hand, were adorable! There was a herd of them walking past our albergue and I ran out to see them and a little one stopped and looked at me like he was going to come over.

Well, I think that is all I have got for now. Here are some pictures from today. The good ones were taken by Rich
