Day 8 Caminha, Portugal to Oia, Spain
Goodbye Portugal! Hello Spain! We crossed over into Spain today by way of a water taxi. The boat ride took about 5 minutes. Here’s us waiting for the boat:
The town of Caminha that we left was a lively, bustling town. When we crossed the river and landed in A Guarda, Spain all we heard were crickets. There wasn’t a soul to be found anywhere. Then I looked at the way marker and the road it was pointing to and remembered everything I hated about last year. Up, up and more up!
The sun was out in full force so I was already getting cranky. We had decided we would just take a cab since all my joints were killing me. Silly me thought there would be a cafe or something right where we disembarked from the boat but alas we had to climb a bit. Thankfully, we didn’t have to go too far and we were able to call a taxi which took us the 11 miles to Oia.
Oia is beautiful! It is a cute, coastal town with charming cobblestone streets that wind all around. There is a beautiful monastery that unfortunately is closed for renovations.
