Day 17 Padron to Teo
What a day. We walked 8.7 miles and most of it was lovely. We started pretty early to try and race the sun as much as possible. Rich got a great pic of the church as we left Padron.
There were a lot of pilgrims on the way with us. Which is kind of nice because you are sure you going the right way without having to check all the time. Although this part of the Camino is very well marked.
We went through a lovely little town called O Rival that had beautiful houses and quiet little streets. The kind of town you dream about when you think of chucking it all and moving somewhere to live a quiet life.
We cane upon this house that had an old lavanderia (a big tub to wash clothes) and a guy was walking a dog and apparently the dog decided it would be a perfect spot to get a sip of water.
When he looked up at me, I am pretty sure he said “I didn’t think this through”. Just as quickly as he hopped in he hopped out and they went on their way.
The route was getting a little confusing for us because our apartment for the evening was showing that it was way off the Camino when we looked on Google maps. So, there were lots of moments like this:
We ended up veering off the path and walking down a very busy road when we were a couple of miles away from our apartment. Rich could tell I was losing steam so he suggested we stop and see if we can get a cab. We stopped at a pretty gross bar and Olga asked the woman if she had a number for a taxi. Her response was a rather terse “here is the number, you will be lucky if he answers”. Olga called and the guy said it would be at least an hour and hung up. So we continued on. But first I made friends with this cutie pie:
After a steep climb and a lot of huffing and puffing from me, we finally got to our apartment. All I could think was “Thank God, there is only one more day of this!”
There isn’t much to do in this town so we are just chilling in the apartment. One of us may be drinking a whole lot of her new favorite wine but I won’t name names.
