Orisson, France to Roncesvalles, Spain - September 6

Today we continued our journey through the Pyrenees by crossing from France into Spain, which involved about 3500 feet of elevation gain and roughly 11 miles of walking - all into what locals reported was a 45mph head wind. No matter which direction our path turned, the wind remained in our faces. Apparently the mountains felt we needed a greater challenge from our previous days walk. I found it to be pretty exhausting, and probably one of the most difficult day hikes I have done. The scenery was beautiful, but the amount of attention required to simply stay upright didn’t allow us to enjoy it as much as it deserved.

We arrived at our hotel early afternoon tired but happy and ready to relax with a delicious pilgrim dinner and a glass of wine. Tomorrow is a rest day thankfully, then on to Zubiri
