Leon to Villar de Mazarife - September 30
Who walked 7.10 miles today and is pretty proud of herself?
This girl!
Ok, so did these two (actually 2.5 miles more)
Today’s walk was quite pleasant. We skipped the 3-5 miles at the beginning to get out of Leon and took the bus. While on the bus we were pleased with our choice because it was just a very industrial, boring path out of the city.
I enjoyed this walk more than the previous ones because I listened to music which helped distract me from the miles ahead. Although the song, “In the Stars”, by Benson Boone came on and just about wrecked me.
Today’s walk had very little shade and even though I am covered head to toe in UPF clothing and 100 SPF, my Lupus joints are stiffening up like crazy.
We stopped at a town 2.5 miles from our destination to have a coffee and Olga asked if there was a taxi available for me. The ladies behind the counter said they can call one but it will probably cost 30 Euros. Before I could even make a decision one of those ladies came over and said she would drive me for free. So, she drove the 2.5 miles down the road and when I tried to pay her 10 Euros she refused heartily and only when I said if you don’t want it you can give it to someone else did she acquiesce. I asked her name and it is Christina. I called her Angel Christina and thanked her profusely. Now just waiting for my compadres the best way I know how!
I am sure Rich will do a post later with better pictures but here are some that I took:
