Belorado to Agés, Spain - September 19
Finally getting time to update our blog. We have had some long walking days lately and they are starting to all run together, so I figure I better catch up before I lose all track of towns, days and time. Updates may be out of order, so please forgive having to jump back and forth in time 😐
We left the Alburgue in Belorado before sunrise to begin the walk to Agés. The first couple of miles were on a lightly (at least that early) traveled road, which made walking by torch light a little easier - fewer tripping hazards.
As it got light we found ourselves passing through a few small villages separated by large fields of cut straw and sunflowers which were dying off for the season. Imagine how beautiful this section must have been during the summer months when the sunflower fields were filled with bright yellow flowers following the rising sun.

By 9:30 we had ground out about 7.5 miles and decided it was time for breakfast. We stopped at Restaurante El Pajaro in Villafranca. The food and coffee tasted great. Of course, I am constantly hungry during this trip and love all food LOL.
The path from Villafranca changed from mostly flat to entirely up, up, up….then down, down, down - then repeat……. We burned up our breakfast calories quickly. The plus side was we soon were high enough to be surrounded by mature pine forests. The walking reminded me of hiking fire trails in Northern Michigan and the pine scent in the air was amazing.
The terrain finally leveled out again as we started our final push to Ages, passing through a few more small villages and a vendor stand selling coffee, snacks and trinkets.
Sunita was waiting for us at a cafe near the Alburgue. We shared wine and snacks after a long but enjoyable day.
