A love letter

Today is day 15 and Olga and Rich are just setting off on the longest of hiking days which is supposed to be 13 miles but I am sure will be closer to 15. I am going to cab to our next spot which leaves me some time to pontificate. This morning I am overwhelmed with love for my two companions on this adventure so I thought I should embarrass them and write about them.

I will start with my dear, goofy husband. I love this man so much I find it hard to come up with the right words.

I remember when I first met him over 20 years ago, I thought “he is such a decent and kind man”. Well after 10 years of being married to him I am still taken aback by his quiet kindness and just all around goodness. He takes care of me in so many ways and always without any fanfare. He really is my ride or die. Like a few months ago when I said I wanted to do another Camino I know he thought I was crazy but he just said “ok, let’s go”. Even though he knew it would be tough for me he walks beside me knowing that I will need a lot of support from him. He didn’t try to talk me out of it. He just shows up like he does every day and manages to make me laugh along the way.

Bub, I love you so much. ❤️

Now let’s talk about Olga! This crazy woman who laughed so hard when I told her I want to do another Camino but here she is helping me get to the finish line once again!

Olga is the kind of person who will go a million miles out of her way to make things easier for you. She will see me struggling with joint pain and then try to fight me to take my bag off my back. She is very stubborn but in me she has met her match!

She knows how much Rich loves spanish tortilla and hasn’t had any good ones yet so the first apartment we had she bought all the fixings and taught me how to make it.

She has so much love in her heart and it comes spilling out in every interaction with her. I hate that we live so far apart but we have both noticed that no matter how much time passes we always pick up like it has been no time.

Guapa, I love you with all my heart ❤️

So there you have it, my love letter to my fellow perigrinos. Thank you for supporting me and loving me. I’m a very lucky girl.
